Bunco

Leapin’ Leprechaun Bunco – the perfect way to celebrate St Patty’s Day with the girls!

Forget green beer… play Bunco!

I recently received the following in an email from a new user of my Print-Your-Own-Bunco kits:

“Just wanted to let you know that my Bunco Party was a success today the ladies had a blast and can’t wait to do it again. I used your art work and the detail of it was a wow factor act the party.

Thanks again till my next Bunco Party!”

This just warmed my heart because this was my intention when creating the themed kits for Bunco – to help Bunco hostesses everywhere add that extra touch to their party.

This week would be the perfect time to gather the girls and roll the dice with the Leapin’ Leprechaun Bunco Kit.  Not sure how to play?  I have the rules on the website too >> PrintYourOwnBunco.com/how-to-play.html

Here’s to good times with your girlfriends – may the luck of the Irish be with you as you roll the dice!

Roll in the New Year with Bunco!

Looking for something different, fun and easy to learn for your New Year’s Eve Party?  Why not play Bunco?  Here is how you play and if it sounds like fun, I have two New Year’s Eve themed party kits you can check out!

The rules of Bunco seem to be as unique as the group that is playing. Here are some basic rules for playing with a group of 12 but of course you can adapt them to fit the personality of your group or event!

What you need:

Rules WhatYouNeed BASIC BUNCO RULES

12 people (preferably fun people – this is about getting out, being social and having a good time!)

3 tables that seat 4 people each.

9 dice – 3 for each table.

1 bell for the Head Table.

Score Sheets. (I highly recommend using themed score sheets from this website, but maybe I’m biased!)

Pens or pencils. (for keeping score of course!)

Munchies, Beverages and Prizes.

How to Play:

Bunco is played in rounds – usually in teams of 2. So each table has 2 teams of two at it.

The Head Table controls the starting and stopping of each round. When a team at the head table gets to 21 points or gets a “Bunco” play stops. Points are tallied and seats are changed. (This sounds more complicated than it is once you get started…) Here is how it works…

Play begins. The first round is the “ones” round, the second round is the “twos” and so on. The first person at each table rolls the three dice, looking to roll 1 or more of whichever round they are on. (So if it is round one, you want to roll a one or if you roll 3 ones, you start jumping for joy and yelling BUNCO!)

The person rolling the dice at each table keeps rolling as long as at least one of the dice gets the number they are looking for. The rollers team mate puts a check mark next to each correct number rolled, giving a point. (So if you are on ‘ones’ you get 1 point every time you roll a one. You get 21 points for rolling 3 ones – or “bunco”.)

Five points are awarded if three of the same number are rolled that are not the same number as the round you are on. (So if you get three “twos” but are playing round four, you get 5 points. You would have gotten 21 point if you were on round two…)

When the person rolling doesn’t get the number for the round being played, they pass the dice to the left and the next team gets to roll for points.

Play stops when a team at the Head Table reaches 21. The head table rings the bell to let everyone know to stop rolling. (and because it’s more polite and more fun than to just yell, “everyone stop!”)

Now each team at each table adds up their points and figures out which team has won and which has lost. Each member of the team marks their card with a “W” for a win or “L” for a loss. Keep track of your individual buncos as well. The “Print Your Own Bunco” score sheets are set up for four rounds of 1 through 6 with extra space for tally marks or adding more rounds if desired.

Rules SampleScore BASIC BUNCO RULES

At the end of each round, the two winners from each table move up a table (towards the head table) and the losers stay put. New teams are formed (you don’t stay with the same partner from round to round) and now you have new people to chat and roll with.

At the end of the night, the Buncos, Wins & Losses are added up and the number recorded on the line next to your name. The hostess than takes all the score sheets and determines who wins the prizes. Prizes are often awarded for “Most Buncos”, “Most Wins” and “Most Losses” but again, it’s your party so your group can give out prizes for “Best Shoes” too if you want!

So are you ready to roll in the New Year?  Here are two Kits I have available on my site, www.PrintYourOwnBunco.com

Happy New Year!

Amazing stories of Bunco come after the coverage in Women’s World Magazine

Not only was it a huge thrill to see my artwork and website, www.PrintYourOwnBunco.com, in the nationally distributed Women’s World Magazine, I received several emails and notes of thanks that touched my heart.  One woman, Joyce, gave me permission to share her story.

I am now 83. When I was in 7th and 8th grade in a Catholic school in Indiana we 12 females played Bunco once a month, rotating from house to house. It was great entertainment for all of us.

I now live in a mobile home park and perhaps I can revive Bunco here. I will show our social director your score cards and see if she is interested in trying it. I always looked forward to our evenings of Bunco playing. I had forgotten all about it.

– Joyce

How amazing to have brought back a memory of 7th grade to a woman in her 80’s!   You just never know how something you do can touch another.  I hope Joyce gets to build new Bunco memories!

If you have a Bunco group and want fun, themed Bunco scoresheets and decorations, head to www.PrintYourOwnBunco.com and see what I’ve created.  You can get free Bunco scoresheets with a “Bunco Queen” theme when you sign up for the monthly eNewsletter.

National Media Coverage for PrintYourOwnBunco.com by Tara Reed Designs

My feet barely touched the ground yesterday when I discovered THIS IS THE WEEK my website, PrintYourOwnBunco.com, is in Women’s World Magazine!!!

In case you don’t know about Bunco, it’s a dice game that got its start in the Victorian Era.  Played by an estimated 7 million women in the US on a monthly basis – Bunco serves as the cornerstone of girlfriend gatherings.  12 players. Rolling Dice. Taking chances. Keeping score. Beyond a dice game of chance, Bunco gives women throughout the U.S. a reason to get out and have fun with neighbors and friends.

I created the website, PrintYourOwnBunco.com last year after a friend complained that it was hard to find fun bunco score sheets if you weren’t crafty enough to make your own.  LIGHT BULB! Why not use the art I have and created fun, themed, inexpensive party kits for Bunco players?

To learn more about how to play, to get a free bunco score sheets with a “Bunco Queen” theme, or see the many themed kits available – head to www.PrintYourOwnBunco.com right now!

My blog has a new (and final) home…

Ahhh… I think I have all my blogs where they need to be now. What a relief!

When I first started blogging in June 2008, I was told to just take the easy route and get a WordPress.com blog.  Well, as I have learned more about blogs and the internet, I have come to discover that you can do so much more with a self-hosted blog – or WordPress.org blog – that is on a website I host and maintain.

Now I’ve gone from zero to three… and each of those three has gone from a WordPress.com to a WordPress.org.  (If you are just starting out – skip the migration step and start with a WordPress.org.)  More features.  More flexibility. More fun!

Stay tuned for more exciting things from the studio…

P.S. In case you are wondering, these are my other blogs:

www.ArtLicensingBlog.com – teaching artists about the art licensing industry

www.PrintYourOwnBunco.com/blog – blog for my themed Print-Your-Own Bunco Party Kit product line

Bunco anyone? My new product line is putting art on the Bunco table.

It has been an interesting journey to Bunco land.

My friend wanted me to go to BlogWorld – a convention in Las Vegas where all the intense bloggers gather to talk blogs, network and who knows what else. (This will be my first trip.)

Being easily persuadable and interested in new networking possibilities, I get on a plane on October 15th.  But what will I talk about? What do I have to offer these bloggers that will be a win-win?

I went back to a Digital Birthday Party Kit idea I had a while back.  That moved slightly to the right to a ‘print your own bingo’ concept.  Then over toast and eggs with a girlfriend, it morphed into www.PrintYourOwnBunco.com

Bunco-WebPage

I’m excited and let me tell you why!

First, it is women who like and buy my art. (mostly)

It is estimated that 7 million women play Bunco regularly in the U.S. (and 17 million have played at some time.)

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, Bunco is dice game that serves as a way to connect, build community and have a great time – what better place for my art! Noticing that the same (boring) score sheets are often used month after month, I decided to “change the look of Bunco, one party at a time.”

One of my new missions is to put art on the Bunco table. I need some help telling the 7 million Bunco regulars so feel free to tell everyone you know, ok?

There are 15 themes and more on the way. There is a free kit just for signing up for a monthly newsletter.  Immediate downloads. Personalize and print at home. Make your next party as unique as you are!

Bunco-scoreCards

I’ll be blogging more about it but wanted to give you the overview.  I would also like to give you a little bribe for checking it out, trying it and sharing the information with everyone you know who plays Bunco
